Three clubs Evan Ferguson could join when he leaves Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion wonderkid Evan Ferguson signed a new deal with the Sussex club until 2029, further extending the contract he signed in April. 

After breaking out last season, the 19-year-old striker has been linked with all of the Premier League’s big clubs.

Many people believe he will become Brighton’s next big-money transfer, and interested clubs must now try to prise him away from a long-term contract.

Ferguson has netted five Premier League goals in 11 appearances this term. He scored six in 19 games last season. He also bagged three in the FA Cup and one in the League Cup.

He is a gem, and Brighton top brass Tony Bloom and Paul Barber will demand an arm and a leg for his services.

We explore three potential destinations for the talented Irish international in this piece.

Chelsea 

Despite Brighton pulling their pants down in a few negotiations over the past year, the Blues have not learnt their lesson and continue to show interest in their prospects.

With Chelsea looking to stockpile all the young talent across Europe and South America, they could turn to the Brighton striker.

Chelsea are considering a move for a centre-forward with Nicolas Jackson struggling, and it will be unsurprising to see them move for Ferguson.

While they are targeting a more experienced profile for now, they could yet turn to the former Bohemians starlet.

Manchester United

Man United’s forwards have only scored one Premier League goal this season.

Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund leads the Champions League scoring chart but has failed to produce the goods in England, while Marcus Rashford is struggling after bagging 30 last season.

There have been talks about United signing another striker to ease Hojlund’s burden, and the Premier League giants could bring in Ferguson.

United had him on their radar this summer window, but Brighton made it clear he was not for sale. The Reds moved on. 

However, they could return for him soon as there is still lingering interest. 

Like Chelsea, they are looking for another experienced centre-forward but could end up moving for Ferguson.

Bayern Munich

A strange choice, but the Bavarians have recently shown an interest in the English market. 

They have signed Sadio Mane and Harry Kane from Premier League clubs over the last two summer windows and have had other players on their radar.

Kane has been in excellent form since joining this summer, but they must have a longer-term contingency plan.

Ferguson could be the perfect replacement for Kane when the England international finishes banging in goals in the Bundesliga.

With the Kane deal, Bayern showed they are unafraid of spending big to secure exceptional talent. They could be putting a lot of zeroes on the chequebook to take Ferguson from Brighton.
