Serie A giants AC Milan have signed attacker Christian Pulisic from Chelsea on a four-year deal with an option to extend the contract for another year.
The Rossoneri will part with around £20 million to sign the American international. He is their fourth summer signing after Marco Sportiello, Luka Romero and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Pulisic joined the Blues from Borussia Dortmund for around £58 million in 2019. It was a massive risk for Chelsea, with the attacker still struggling to establish himself with BVB.
However, the gamble did not pay off. Apart from during the COVID-19 lockdown period, where he had an upturn in form, Pulisic failed to nail down a consistent starting berth at Chelsea.
While initial manager Frank Lampard trusted him, Thomas Tuchel did not and used him as a wing-back, further impeding the attacker’s development.
Subsequent boss Graham Potter barely used him, and when Lampard returned for his second stint, he did not trust him anymore.
Injuries played their part in his woes as he struggled to build momentum and consistency.
Pulisic has decided to leave Chelsea after four years with hopes of reviving his promising career in Italy. The 24-year-old still has plenty of time in his career.
The attacker can play through the middle as a number ten and on the right wing with Rafael Leao on the left side. He can also deputise for the Portuguese attacker.
Milan are still pushing for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze and remain in talks with AZ Alkmaar for midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.
They also need a striker to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic following his retirement. There have been links to several players, but the Rossoneri are yet to make a concrete move for anyone.
