Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Alphonso Davies to join them in 2024 or 2025, according to The Athletic.
Los Blancos have had the Canadian international on their target list for a while and want to snap him up for a below-market price this summer or on a free transfer next year.
News of Davies joining Madrid will be a massive blow to Chelsea and Manchester City. The Premier League pair were eyeing a summer deal for the Bayern Munich left-back.
They need a world-class left-back to bolster their ranks but have missed out on the 23-year-old, who is now heading for Spain.
Davies also rejected interest from Barcelona, opting for the 14-time Champions League winners ahead of their Catalan counterparts.
Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat and director general Jose Angel Sanchez have been talking with Davies’ camp for a while and asked him not to renew his contract with Bayern, which expires in 2025.
The La Liga giants have previously successfully signed players from Bayern at lower prices than their market value.
They stayed patient and signed David Alaba on a free transfer in 2021 when Bayern refused to deal with them the summer before.
Madrid also famously signed Toni Kroos from the Bavarians in 2014 on a cut-price deal.
Bayern have been desperate to avoid a repeat of the same but are struggling to agree a new deal with Davies.
The Spanish club also looks set to add other world-class stars to their already stacked squad.
They will likely sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. Davies could join him in the glorious white of Madrid this summer or next, depending on negotiations.
