Benzema to reject Man United, Chelsea & Arsenal for Saudi stay

Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema will stay at the Saudi Pro League club beyond this month, according to L’Equipe.

The 36-year-old has been linked with a return to European football after drawing the ire of his two managers in the Middle East.

Benzema clashed with Nuno Espirito Santo before he left the club and has also had issues with new boss Marcelo Gallardo after failing to return from holiday in time.

The problems with the managers had led to whispers that Benzema would seek an exit from Al-Ittihad six months into his adventure in the Gulf State.

However, it looks like Benzema will stay on despite interest from three Premier League clubs – Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Arsenal have struggled in front of goal. Gabriel Jesus has only scored three league goals this term, while his partner Eddie Nketiah has five.

Man United want an experienced striker to pair with Rasmus Hojlund and have been linked with Benzema.

Chelsea are also desperate for a goalscorer. No team has missed more big chances this season (41), and the feeling around Stamford Bridge is if they can get a top-class forward, they can climb into the European spots.

The Premier League trio will keep scouring the market for options as Benzema looks to continue his stay in the Saudi Pro League.

One club definitely not looking to sign Benzema is Real Madrid. Both executives and fans are reportedly opposed to his return.

Benzema is one of numerous stars who moved to Saudi Arabia this summer, but some are already seeking a move away.

Jordan Henderson is close to joining Ajax after an unsuccessful six-month stint at Al-Ettifaq. Roberto Firmino is also reportedly open to a move away from Al-Ahli after struggling for form.

Firmino has also been linked to a return to the Premier League, but there has been no movement on that front.
