Chelsea have completed the acquisition of Axel Disasi from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco in a £38.6 million deal.
Disasi has signed a six-year contract and joins fellow new boys Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Angelo Gabriel, Diego Moreira and Lesley Ugochukwu at Stamford Bridge.
A right-sided centre-back by trade, Disasi provides Chelsea with extra defensive cover with Wesley Fofana ruled out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The French international is thrilled to have completed a move to London and is looking forward to picking up silverware with his new employers.
“I am so happy to be here, at this big club,” Disasi told Chelsea’s official website.
“I am really proud to be able to be a part of this great family, and I hope to achieve very big things here. To win titles. I will do everything I can to achieve those objectives – I am very ambitious”
“I can’t wait to feel the energy of the fans – this is a very good stadium, one where you have a beautiful proximity to the fans.
“The fervour of the fans in the Premier League, the atmosphere, the intensity of the games – it is something that excites me.”
Having focused majorly on departures for the first half of the summer window, Chelsea are expected to be busy on the incoming front heading into the final few weeks of the market.
The Blues remain in contact with Brighton & Hove Albion for Moises Caicedo, although alternative targets have been lined up if they fail to get a deal over the line.
Chelsea successfully navigated pre-season without defeat and will be full of confidence heading into their Premier League opener against Liverpool on August 13.
