Chelsea have announced the signing of Angelo Gabriel from Santos.
The 18-year-old is one of the most talented young players to have emerged from Brazil.
He became the youngest player in the history of the Brazil national championship when he earned his competitive debut at just 15 years and 308 days.
The forward then scored in a Copa Libertadores game against San Lorenzo to become the youngest scorer in the competition’s history.
He has made 129 senior appearances for the club, bagging five goals and ten assists.
Gabriel’s excellent performances caught the attention of several top European clubs including Barcelona and Chelsea.
The Premier League outfit have now won the transfer race for the hugely talented youngster.
As per The Athletic, they agreed to a £13 million transfer fee with Santos for the teenager last month.
The Brazilian should be available for the Blues’ pre-season tour to the United States, but he will likely be sent on loan to Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg for his development.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will begin their 2023 summer pre-season by taking on Wrexham in North Carolina on Wednesday.
They will subsequently face Brighton & Hove Albion before locking horns with Newcastle United at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 26.
Chelsea will also meet Fulham and Borussia Dortmund during a busy pre-season for the club.
