Chelsea keen to sign €100m-rated La Liga goalkeeper

Chelsea are reportedly keen to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili who has a €100 million release clause in his contract.

The 23-year-old has been a key member of the Spanish outfit this season, starting all 27 La Liga matches and keeping nine clean sheets.

The goalkeeper has been performing impressively since moving to Valencia in 2021 but he is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Chelsea are interested in signing the Georgian footballer along with Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich.

The Blues will likely cash in on Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer and they could opt to invest that money in buying Mamardashvili.

Robert Sanchez hasn’t been very convincing for the Londoners since joining the club in the summer.

Injury issues has limited the Spaniard to just 16 Premier League starts this season, but he has conceded 25 goals in those matches.

Mamardashvili has reportedly a €100 million release clause in his contract at Valencia but the English giants are not expected to pay such an enormous fee for the goalkeeper.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have endured a frustrating 2023-24 season as they are sitting in 11th place in the table with 39 points.

They edged Newcastle United 3-2 on Monday but their top-four hopes are long over.

The West Londoners will now look to win as many matches as they can and finish as high as possible.

But Chelsea’s remaining fixtures include some very difficult opponents, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Aston Villa.
