Chelsea & Man United among four potential destinations for Copenhagen wonderkid Roony Bardghji

FC Copenhagen prodigy Roony Bardghji is enjoying a phenomenal 2023/24 campaign and talks of a big-money move to the Premier League have unsurprisingly emerged.

Despite his enormous talent, the 18-year-old has been a bargain acquisition on the famous Football Manager franchise over the last few years, but the world is finally beginning to take note of the boy wonder.

Perhaps further evidence of his exceptional capabilities is the fact that he made his debut for the Danish giants as a 16-year-old, bagging his first Superliga goal a week later.

Bardghji has been a standout performer for Copenhagen this season, notching seven goals in 15 Superliga appearances, playing a crucial role as they bid to reclaim their league crown.

Copenhagen sit at the Superliga summit, having collected 33 points from 15 games, and Bardghji has been instrumental in their title charge. 

However, the teenage sensation announced himself on the centre stage after notching the match-winner in a 4-3 Champions League victory over Manchester United.

After watching most of the proceedings from the sidelines, Bardghji emerged from the bench to snatch a late win for his side with a well-struck volley.

He may have been just another obscure prodigy in Denmark, but his heroics against the Red Devils have facilitated a surge in his reputation as one of the brightest talents in Europe.

Suffice it to say Copenhagen are in for a battle to hang on to their most prized asset, but they will be powerless to resist when the top guns come calling as we look at four potential landing spots for the wonderkid.

Manchester United

In what could be an intriguing plot twist, Man United are one of several potential landing spots for a player who plunged their Champions League ambitions into further chaos.

Having taken a two-goal lead before the half-hour mark, Marcus Rashford’s sending-off marked a turning point in the game, with Copenhagen staging a comeback twice to snatch maximum points.

Just when Man United thought they might snatch a point, the ‘Swedish Messi’ stepped up with a sublime volley that bested Andre Onana.

Not only would Bardghji be an instant upgrade on the mega £100 million flop Antony, but he’d inject pace, trickery and end product into a Man United attack that has barely put a foot right this season.

What would be surprising is if he isn’t already on their radar, but snapping him up could be a smart move for the Blues, who have shown they’re not afraid to fork out the big bucks for talented youngsters.

Already spoiled for talents on the right wing, Bardghji’s potential acquisition will only bolster the already intense competition for places in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

There are still areas of his game that require improvement, but with his undoubted talent and eye for goal, he will back himself to earn a spot in Pochettino’s side.

Newcastle United

As they continue to further their long-standing ambition of affirming themselves as a major player in Europe, no one would blame Newcastle if their market strategy was aimed solely at established players who can hit the ground running.

However, the Magpies have shown over the last two transfer windows that they also have a soft spot for talented youngsters, evident in their acquisition of Anthony Gordon, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall.
