Chelsea plan to sell impressive £30m-rated winger this summer – Fabrizio Romano

Chelsea are reportedly plotting to sell Omari Hutchinson this summer after his impressive spell on loan at Ipswich Town.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues want to cash in on the 20-year-old during the transfer window and have slapped a £25-£30 million price tag on him.

Per the report, VfB Stuttgart, Ipswich, Ajax, Feyenoord, and several other Premier League sides are interested in his services.

Hutchinson had an outstanding loan spell in his first foray into senior men’s football, helping the Tractor Boys secure promotion to the Premier League.

The former Arsenal star bagged ten goals and five assists in 44 appearances in the Championship, winning Ipswich Town’s Young Player of the Year award.

Fans have been begging the club hierarchy to do everything to sign him permanently. Even manager Kieran McKenna has echoed their sentiments.

However, with several options on the table, it is unclear where Hutchinson will head next, although it is clear Chelsea are only interested in flipping him for profit after signing him on a free transfer last summer.

Chelsea are likely wary of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). They need to sell a few assets to balance their books, and a player like Hutchinson represents pure profit.

Hutchinson is a useful option for Chelsea

While he may not be a world-beater, Chelsea’s decision to cash in on Hutchinson this early is not the wisest course of action.

Hutchinson’s loan at Ipswich was a resounding success and an excellent foundation to build upon. He is an electric winger who works hard defensively, which puts him in good graces with coaches.

Chelsea could continue monitoring his progress in a competitive league while Hutchinson gains valuable experience against tougher opposition.

This can ultimately lead to a top-class winger returning to Stamford Bridge, potentially saving the club a significant transfer fee in the future.
