Chelsea receive Madueke & Caicedo boost ahead of Aston Villa clash amid injury crisis

Chelsea have received a much-needed boost in their squad as they prepare to face Aston Villa this Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail, the Blues hope to have Moises Caicedo and Noni Madueke back in action while Armando Broja inches closer to full fitness.

Caicedo and Madueke were notable absentees from Chelsea’s recent goalless draw against Bournemouth

After returning from international duty, both players were sidelined due to knee and muscle issues.

However, their omissions were precautionary measures, with the injuries not deemed serious enough to keep them out for an extended period.

The absence of Caicedo and Madueke added to Chelsea’s mounting injury concerns, with 12 players unavailable for selection in their match against the Cherries.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has faced significant challenges in assembling a fit and competitive squad, especially in the attacking department.

He has been handed a boost with the news that Broja is on the brink of a comeback to competitive football.

Broja has not featured in a competitive match for Chelsea since before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as he suffered a devastating knee injury during a mid-season friendly against Aston Villa.

However, the Albanian striker has been working his way back to full fitness. He is poised to take a significant step forward in his recovery by featuring for Chelsea’s under-21 squad.

Pochettino’s recent mention of Broja underscores his intention to rely on the young striker once he returns to full fitness.

Chelsea fans will anticipate Broja’s return to bolster their attacking options and alleviate the pressure on their goalscoring department.

As Chelsea gear up to face Aston Villa on Sunday, the potential return of three players could provide much-needed impetus as they aim to return to winning ways in the Premier League.
