Chelsea set to raid Brighton for head of recruitment amid Man United interest

Chelsea want to bring Brighton & Hove Albion’s Head of Recruitment Sam Jewell to the club, barely 16 months after poaching his predecessor, according to The Telegraph.

Jewell stepped up to replace Chelsea sporting director Paul Winstanley after he left for London and now faces a similarly tempting offer. 

Chelsea want to give him a global scouting role that would see him oversee matters for the Blues and Strasbourg under the same ownership consortium.

Manchester United are also eyeing Jewell as they undergo an executive restructuring. He could join former Brighton technical director Dan Ashworth at Old Trafford.

Jewell’s tenure has seen Brighton make some key acquisitions, and Chelsea are eager to add him to their off-field ranks.

This is not the first time the London club has raided the Seagulls’ extensive talent pool. 

The Blues appointed manager Graham Potter and four backroom staff in 2022, later releasing all but one. 

Chelsea also acquired Moises Caicedo, Roberto Sanchez and Marc Cucurella for hefty fees.

While Jewell is pondering his future, Chelsea are set to hire Swansea’s Josh Marsh as Loans Manager.

Marsh previously worked as Huddersfield Town’s head scout and head of recruitment before joining Swansea in 2022 following the departure of Mark Allen.

Despite many fans criticising Stewart and Winstanley for the inexperienced squad they have built, it looks like their jobs are secure, and they will focus on bringing in more helping hands in their youth drive.
