Chelsea target Mamardashvili and Kobel amid potential Kepa Arrizabalaga departure

Chelsea will target Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili and Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga if he leaves this summer.

According to Standard Sport, the Blues have the two players on their shortlist, with Arrizabalaga open to joining Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga champions are in the market for a new keeper after it was revealed that Manuel Neuer is not ready to return to action.

Bayern have let Yann Sommer join Inter Milan days ago and are after Arrizabalaga, with manager Thomas Tuchel urging them to complete the signing.

If the Blues let him go, they will need replacements. They have been eyeing multiple targets since they let Edouard Mendy move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli. 

Mamardashvili broke out at Valencia in 2021 when he kept eight clean sheets in 18 La Liga appearances.

Last season, as Los Che struggled to stave off relegation, the Georgian keeper was vital for their cause. 

He helped them keep seven clean sheets in 38 La Liga games and made several crucial saves to help them stay in the top flight.

Chelsea are also interested in Kobel, who has been impressive for Dortmund since joining from VFB Stuttgart two years ago. 

The Swiss international kept 11 clean sheets in 27 Bundesliga matches last season. Apart from being a solid shot-stopper, he is adept at using his feet.

Chelsea recently signed Robert Sanchez for £25 million from Brighton & Hove Albion, and they are open to selling Arrizabalaga, who has two years left on his £190,000 per week deal. 

Mauricio Pochettino likes Arrizabalaga, but the Spanish international may be heading to Germany soon.
