Chelsea Women’s manager Emma Hayes to leave at the end of the season

Chelsea Women’s manager Emma Hayes will leave the club at the end of the season.

She will bid the Blues goodbye to take charge of the United States Women’s National Team, according to The Athletic.

The 47-year-old joined Chelsea in 2012 after a stint at Chicago Red Stars and has transformed them into formidable winning juggernauts.

Hayes led them to six Women’s Super League titles, five Women’s FA Cups, two FA Women’s League Cups, one FA Women’s Spring Series trophy and one FA Women’s Community Shield.

She is one of the most decorated managers in the women’s game, leading the club to two doubles and one domestic treble.

The 2021 WSL Hall of Fame inductee has led Chelsea to become one of the most dominant teams in England. They currently top the league table and are always one of the favourites for the Women’s Champions League.

They have been drawn alongside Real Madrid, BK Hacken and Paris FC this season and will hope to take this last chance for Hayes to walk out on a high.

Chelsea Women reached the semi-final of the Champions League last season but fell short as they lost to Barcelona.

The taste of European silverware has eluded Hayes, but the prospect of her securing it before her departure is an intriguing narrative.

A victorious Champions League campaign would be a fitting crescendo to her time at Chelsea.
