Crystal Palace are working on a deal to take Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall on loan, per the South London Press.
The Eagles are keen on signing the Cobham Academy graduate who broke into the first team last season.
The 18-year-old will sign a long-term deal with the Blues before heading out on loan.
Hall broke into the first team for Chelsea due to injuries to their left-backs Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella.
Originally a midfielder, Hall entered the team to play at left-back. He slotted in seamlessly and was one of the bright parts of their poor season.
The England youth international created five big chances in 11 appearances for the club.
He looked unfazed even when facing Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United. He won the Chelsea Academy Player of the Year Award for an excellent debut campaign.
However, Hall will find it hard to break into the first team this season with the club unable to sell Cucurella, who has not improved from last season.
Cucurella was still unsure of himself in Chelsea’s pre-season games but will stay with the club as no buyers are lining up.
Chilwell and Ian Maatsen have looked good during pre-season, signalling to Hall that he may have to look for game time elsewhere.
Palace manager Roy Hodgson could hand him the opportunity, giving the avuncular manager versatility with his ability to play in different positions.
The Eagles have only one left-back in their squad – Tyrick Mitchell – and he suffered an injury in their 2-1 pre-season defeat against Millonarios.
Mitchell faces a fight to be fit for their first Premier League game against newly-promoted Sheffield United on August 12.
Palace would love to have Hall as an option when that game comes around next week, especially if Mitchell is unfit.
