Fulham in talks to secure late deal for £50m-rated Chelsea striker Armando Broja

Fulham want to secure a late winter transfer window deal for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to the Telegraph.

Fulham manager Marco Silva is hoping a deal can be struck for the Albanian centre-forward after making the 22-year-old his preferred target.

The Blues are open to letting Broja leave in January and have slammed a £50 million price tag on his head – a valuation Fulham are reluctant to match.

However, despite the obscene valuation, Fulham remain in the race for Broja. The Cottagers would like to strike a deal before Thursday’s deadline. 

Silva wants him to fill the position left by Aleksandar Mitrovic when he departed for Al-Hilal last summer.

Broja has started eight matches this term and scored twice after recovering from a knee injury that kept him out for most of last season.

He has struggled for game time, with Nicolas Jackson firmly ahead of him in the pecking order. 

Even when the Senegal international travelled to the Africa Cup of Nations, Broja failed to take his chance to establish himself in the first team.

The Blues will look to make pure profit from his sale as they attempt to balance their books after spending over £1 billion on new signings since the arrival of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in May 2022.

Chelsea will be desperate to avoid breaking the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) that could bring point deductions. 

They are keen on selling a few Cobham Academy graduates to offset their behemoth expenses. Broja, Trevor Chalobah and Conor Gallagher could be sold to balance the books.

Broja’s sale looks most likely at this stage, although there are rumours that Tottenham Hotspur could relaunch a move for Gallagher before the deadline day, just as they did last summer.
