Petulant Sancho must leave United

The recent spat at Manchester United between Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho perfectly highlights how football has changed, and not for the best.

Arguments between managers and players are commonplace – the difference now is the pandered nature of modern footballers and social media access is a recipe for disaster.

Ultimately, Ten Hag is the United boss. If he thinks a player isn’t pulling his weight, he is right to call him out. If nothing else, the fans deserve honesty on why someone is underperforming.

Sancho’s petulant response smacks of someone who thinks he is better than he is. United need to ship him out in January – he’s a waste of space.

Chelsea manager under the cosh

Banter club Chelsea continue to be the gift that keeps giving, with their ridiculous outlay on players showing little signs of delivering.

Given how their season has started, last season’s managerial merry-go-round at the club must already be giving Mauricio Pochettino sleepless nights.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager will insist he is at the start of a long-term project, but Chelsea’s spending means he does not have that luxury.

His team need a victory at Bournemouth this weekend – anything less and questions will be asked about his suitability for the role.
