Chelsea will look to pick up their first victory of the new season as they travel to East London to take on West Ham United on Friday.
The Blues will be targeting back-to-back top-four finishes in 2025-26, while Graham Potter’s side seek a revival in their fortunes after a dreadful season last year.
Match Preview
West Ham suffered a shocking 3-0 loss against Sunderland in their opening Premier League weekend.
The Hammers were expected to come away with maximum points against the newly promoted side, but second-half goals from Eliezer Mayenda, Daniel Ballard and Wilson Isidor condemned them to a crushing defeat.
Potter’s side will look to make a comeback on Friday when they welcome Chelsea to the London Stadium.
However, that will be easier said than done given the recent form of their opponents.
Enzo Maresca’s side lifted the FIFA Club World Cup trophy last month after claiming a stunning 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
The Blues then eased past Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan in the two club friendlies, but made an uninspiring start to the new Premier League campaign by playing out a goalless draw with Crystal Palace last weekend.
The hosts couldn’t find a way past Palace’s resolute defence, and they ultimately had to settle for a draw.
Team News
West Ham will not be able to avail the services of Crysencio Summerville and Luis Guilherme as the two are recovering from injury problems.
As for Chelsea, Tosin Adarabaioyo is expected to return to training after missing the league opener against Palace due to fitness issues. Although the 27-year-old’s availability for Friday’s clash remains doubtful.
