Simon Jordan claims Chelsea will win the Premier League in 2-3 years

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has made an audacious claim that Chelsea will win the Premier League title in ‘two to three years’.

There is no sugar-coating that the Blues have been a massive disappointment this season, languishing in the bottom half of the table after taking just 12 points from ten games.

Considering Chelsea have no European commitments to look forward to this season, they were expected to mount a proper challenge for the top four.

While their underlying statistics indicate they should have more points than the board shows, recent results suggest they could struggle to achieve anything worthwhile this term.

Despite their appalling start to the season, Jordan believes Chelsea are on the right track and could even win the Premier League title in a few years.

“They’re not trying to mess about – they’ve spent a lot of money,” Jordan said on talkSPORT.

“This is one of the downsides of having a lot of money and not having a lot of football intelligence and paying way too much money for players.

“But there’s no doubt about it, Chelsea will get there – it’s about how quickly they get there and whether [Mauricio] Pochettino is going to take them.”

Much of the blame for Chelsea’s woes this season has been attributed to Pochettino’s system, but the Argentine tactician has arguably done the best he can with the resources at his disposal.

The club hierarchy has also come under scrutiny for their transfer policy, leaving a very expensive squad without a world-class striker despite splurging around £1 billion over the last three windows.

However, questions continue to swirl about whether or not Pochettino is the right man to return Chelsea to the upper echelons of football, considering his previous struggles in the Premier League.

Jordan is unsure about Pochettino’s ability to lead Chelsea to glory but insists the former Paris Saint-Germain gaffer should at least steer them to a top-four finish.

“I have never felt that Pochettino will win them the Premier League,” Jordan added.

“I thought that he will get them to a point where they will operate in the top four, but that’s not Chelsea’s blueprint.

“Right now, even that argument looks unsustainable because they’re not anywhere near what we think they should be.

“But the bottom line is Chelsea will get there. Chelsea will win the league under Todd Boehly before two to three years.”
