Thiago Silva and Chelsea will extend their co-operation for another year, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Silva arrived at Stamford Bridge on a free last summer following a splendid trophy-laden eight-year stint at Paris Saint-Germain.
It took the Brazilian virtually no time to settle in London and nail down the regular starting berth under both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel.
Despite struggling with sporadic physical setbacks, Silva has racked up 18 Premier League appearances this season, even scoring twice.
In addition to his on-field contribution, the 36-year-old has been a massive influence within the dressing room.
The Fluminense academy graduate has played a vital role in knitting Tuchel’s backline together and is expected to continue to do so in the remainder of the season.
After signing a one-year contract with the Blues, the ex-AC Milan defender is keen to extend his stay for another season.
Per renowned Italian journalist Romano, Silva is enjoying himself at Chelsea and would like to prolong his life in the capital.
Talking to Sky Sports about his future plans, the experienced Brazilian revealed his desire to wear the coveted blue jersey for at least another season.
“I hope to continue like this. I want to continue to play at this level and get to the World Cup 2022. Thomas Tuchel is doing amazing work here at Chelsea,” Silva said, as relayed by Romano.
The Stamford Bridge hierarchy would be willing to fulfil the centre-back’s wish, as they deem Thiago indispensable on the back of his impressive maiden Premier League campaign.
