Victor Osimhen to Arsenal or Chelsea? Napoli star declares: ‘I’ve made my choice’

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been the subject of transfer interest from top European clubs after bagging 26 goals and four assists in 32 league appearances last season.

His efforts helped Napoli win the Serie A title and he has subsequently been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea keen on adding his goalscoring prowess to their forward line.

The reigning CAF African Player of the Year has notched seven league goals this term. He is away with the Nigerian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he has spearheaded the Super Eagles to the knockout stage.

Speaking about his future, Osimhen told CBS Sports: “I have already made my decision on the next step to do at the end of the season.

“I already made up my mind, and I already have my plan. I know what I want to do and the next step I want to take.

“I think 60% of the people mention the rumours about me linked with the Premier League. It is one of the biggest leagues in the world.

“I want to finish the season with Napoli strong and then come up with the decision I’ve already made.”

Arsenal and Chelsea need a proficient goalscorer and have Osimhen as a target.

Mikel Arteta has relied upon Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah to lead the Gunners’ front line, but both players have struggled to produce the goods in front of goal.

Arsenal reportedly have their sights set on Osimhen and Ivan Toney as they try to bolster their forward line.

Chelsea’s profligacy in front of goal has been well-documented, and they are also keen on a centre-forward to put the ball in the back of the net.

They have been linked with a plethora of strikers, including Osimhen, Toney and Karim Benzema, as they look to solve their scoring woes.
